So I finally got to see Jason Reeves' entire performance for once at The Roxy... and sadly, he did not play any of my favorite songs. In fact, his performance was strangely very short. Here's one of his newer songs that he DID NOT perform, which he co-wrote with American Idol star Kara Dioguardi...
HOWEVER, because he only performed 5 songs, we had time to stay for the artist after him, whom I guess all the real hype was about. And his music turned out to be MORE enjoyable than Jason Reeves' (who's good, but only if you're in that yearning, wallowing, heart-broken, ballad mood)!
Meet Joe Brooks, UK singer/songwriter extraordinaire:
Ok yes, he has a tinge of teen boy-band creeping into his voice... but if you ignore that, he's actually really good! His music makes me wanna go out skipping down the streets : ) Kinda like a male Colbie Callait with more spunk. He doesn't have any real recordings yet, and all his stuff online and on Youtube is skip-able... but his live performance wasso goodcuz he had a whole band with him. It's amazing what differences drums and bass can make. His Youtube stuff is all acoustic, it's aiite but his music sounds much better live with a full band. Anyway, his real record comes out in March, he just got signed with a big lable! Lookin forward to it! His sound (with the full band) = coldplay + maroon 5 + jason mraz. Sweetness!
Here's some more acoustic-y stuff to check out... but I promise it gets better!
